FFM 2013 Films noirs, UK et USA

On a aussi les synopsis de deux autres films : une comédie noire en provenance du Royaume-Uni  et un thriller psychologique en provenance des États-Unis (descriptif en anglais seulement)


DIRTY WEEKEND, une nouvelle comédie noire franco -anglaise aura sa première en Amérique du Nord avec trois projections au Festival des Films du Monde de Montréal

Dans ce long-métrage que l'on annonce drôle et captivant, Christopher Granier-Deferre, fils de l’actrice Susan Hampshire et de l’illustre réalisateur français Pierre Granier-Deferre, fait ses débuts en tant que réalisateur. Le film est produit par Catherine Vetere.

DIRTY WEEKEND est une comédie noire mettant en scène deux amants imprudents, TRISH (nouvelle venue Kirsty Oswald) et MIKE (Jamie Parker, THE HISTORY BOYS, VALKYRIE) qui partent pour un weekend romantique en France et se retrouvent partageant leur nid d’amour avec un dangereux tueur en fuite, VINCENT (Pierre Perrier, THE RETURNED) qui a un sac rempli d’argent et est résolu à les tuer pour le protéger. Cela va être un long weekend...
DIRTY WEEKEND est le premier long métrage de Catherine Vetere en tant que productrice. Née et élevée à Trois-Rivières, Québec, Catherine est diplômé de Ryerson University en Radio et Télévision. Elle a travaillé sur des productions projetées sur CBC, Global Télévision et TV Ontario ainsi que pour le bureau de liaison du film de Toronto avant son départ pour Londres, Angleterre où sa société de production est établie.
DIRTY WEEKEND est une co-production franco-anglaise vendue par THE LITTLE FILM COMPANY.

“The Red Robin,” the latest feature by independent filmmaker Michael Z. Wechsler, has been named an official selection in the 2013 Montreal World Film Festival’s “World Competition.” The psychological thriller stars Academy Award-nominated, veteran actor Judd Hirsch (“Ordinary People”), Ryan O’Nan ("The Iceman,” “Freelancers”) and CS Lee (“Dexter”), Jaime Ray Newman (“Red Widow,” “Tarzan”), Caroline Lagerfelt (“Gossip Girl”) and Joseph Lyle Taylor (“Justified”). The film was also recently named an official selection of the Montreal World Film Festival and will compete in the ‘World Competition.’

Hirsch earned an Academy Award nomination for his work playing a psychiatrist in the 1980 American drama "Ordinary People," but his role as Nathaniel Shellner in “The Red Robin” may reveal a far darker side of the same profession. Some of the many highlights of Hirsch’s long and distinguished career include two Emmys for his work in “Taxi,” a Golden Globe for his lead role in the series “Dear John,” and a Tony Award for "Conversations With My Father."

In “The Red Robin,” Hirsch’s character Dr. Shellner, a father of five, is a celebrated psychiatrist specializing in trauma, rumored to have worked for the CIA during the Cold War. During a family reunion, Dr. Shellner’s adopted son (played by O’Nan) makes the stunning accusation that his dying father, adopted his children not out of love, but for the purposes of dark experiments in mind control. A night of revelations ensues which brings forth truth, disbelief, grief and introspection defining the mask of a loving father against the backdrop of a winter storm.

Screenwriter/director Wechsler produced the film with Shawn R. Singh, who is also an executive producer on the documentary “Finding 52: The Search for the Loneliest Whale in the World.” Executive producers include Jonathan Sanger (“The Elephant Man”), Rick Porras (“Lord of the Rings”), Wendy Herst and Khush Singh, and Terry Keefe is co-producer.
